Wild Yemeni Sidr Honey

Wild Sidr from Wadi Du’an • Seasonal Harvest • Direct from a Generational Yemeni Beekeeping Family

Allah says about honey:

“From their bellies comes forth a liquid of varying colors, in which there is healing for people.”

— Qur’an, An-Nahl 16:69

Honey in the Qur’an & Sunnah

Few foods have as clear a place in Islamic tradition as honey.

Allah describes honey in the Qur’an as containing healing for people, and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also spoke about honey as a means of healing.

“Healing is in three things: a drink of honey, cupping, and cauterization...”

— Sahih al-Bukhari 5680

In another authentic narration, a man came to the Prophet ﷺ concerning his brother’s stomach illness. The Prophet ﷺ instructed him to give his brother honey.

For Sunnah Garden, this is where the story of honey begins: with the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

And Then There Is the Sidr Tree

Sidr honey is produced when bees forage primarily from the blossoms of the Sidr tree — the lote tree, known in Arabic as السدر.

The Sidr tree has its own remarkable place in the Qur’an.

Allah mentions Sidrat al-Muntaha — the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary:

“At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary...”
— Qur’an 53:14

And among the blessings described in Jannah:

“Amid thornless lote trees...”
— Qur’an 56:28

This gives Sidr honey two meaningful connections in the Islamic tradition: honey itself is praised in the Qur’an, while the nectar comes from a tree Allah chose to mention by name.

From Wadi Du’an, Yemen

Our Sidr honey comes from Wadi Du’an in Hadhramaut, Yemen, a region long associated with prized Sidr honey.

The Sidr bloom occurs during a limited seasonal window. During this period, bees forage among flowering Sidr trees and produce a honey with a distinctive aroma, flavor, color, and texture.

Every harvest is shaped by the land, the trees, the bees, the weather, and the season.

This is an agricultural product with a place and a season — not something manufactured to be identical year-round.

Direct from a Generational Yemeni Family

With Sidr honey, source matters.

Sunnah Garden works directly with a generational Yemeni beekeeping family whose knowledge of the Sidr trees, bees, valley, and harvest has been passed through their family.

We intentionally prefer direct relationships over anonymous honey purchased through layers of resellers whenever that is possible.

For a product as highly valued — and frequently imitated — as Yemeni Sidr honey, knowing who produced it matters to us.

We know our source. We trust our source. And we stand behind the honey we put in our jars.

Honey in Faith-Centered Wellness

Because honey holds such a meaningful place in the Qur’an and Sunnah, many Muslims also incorporate it into personal ruqyah and faith-centered wellness routines.

One simple practice is to add Sidr honey to water and recite Qur’an and du‘a over it before drinking.

Common ruqyah recitations may include Surah Al-Fatihah, Ayat al-Kursi, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas, along with authentic du‘as for healing and protection.

As with any permissible physical means, healing and benefit are sought from Allah while Qur’an, du‘a, dhikr, and tawakkul remain at the heart of ruqyah.

Our Favorite Way: Sidr Honey Water

One of the simplest ways to enjoy Sidr honey is also one of our favorites: honey mixed with water.

Stir approximately 1–2 teaspoons of Sidr honey into a glass of room-temperature or comfortably warm water until dissolved.

Enjoy it in the morning, with breakfast, after fasting, or whenever you want a simple refreshing way to enjoy your honey.

Sunnah Garden Tip

You can prepare your honey water fresh or mix it the night before and keep it covered in the refrigerator for an easy morning drink.

The overnight preparation is simply a Sunnah Garden routine — not a prescribed Sunnah practice.

How to Enjoy

Sidr honey is delicious enough to enjoy simply, but it also pairs beautifully with everyday foods.

  • Straight from the spoon
  • Mixed into honey water
  • Drizzled over warm Talbina
  • Added to tea or warm drinks
  • Served over yogurt or fruit
  • Spread over bread or toast
  • Added to breakfast or Suhoor
  • Used as a natural sweetener

🌿 Limited by the Harvest

Sidr does not bloom year-round.

Our quantities depend on the seasonal harvest available from the Yemeni family we work with.

We would rather remain loyal to a source we know and trust than constantly change suppliers simply to keep Sidr honey on the shelf.

When our seasonal allocation is gone, availability may be limited until another trusted harvest becomes available.

A Traditional Honey Still Being Studied

Sidr honey has also attracted interest from modern researchers studying the naturally occurring compounds found in honey.

Laboratory studies of Yemeni Sidr honey have examined its phenolic compounds, antioxidant activity, and antimicrobial properties.

As with other natural honeys, composition varies according to floral source, geography, season, and processing.

For Sunnah Garden, modern research adds another interesting layer to the story — but the significance of honey begins with what Allah and His Messenger ﷺ taught us about it.

Ingredients

100% Wild Yemeni Sidr Honey

No added sugar. No syrups. No artificial flavors. No fillers.

Natural Honey Changes

Real honey is an agricultural product, so color, thickness, aroma, and flavor may vary slightly from one seasonal harvest to another.

Natural crystallization can also occur over time. This is a normal characteristic of honey and does not mean it has spoiled.

If crystallization occurs and you prefer a smoother texture, place the closed jar in comfortably warm water and allow it to soften gradually.

Storage

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Refrigeration is not necessary.

A Quick Care Note

Do not give honey to children under 12 months of age.

Honey naturally contains sugars. If you are managing diabetes or another condition requiring careful carbohydrate intake, enjoy it accordingly and follow the guidance of your healthcare professional.

Allah tells us that there is healing in honey. We take the permissible means while remembering that all healing and benefit ultimately come from Him.
