Talbina — Comfort Blend

A Prophetic Food for Comfort • Naturally Sweetened with Ground Dates • Cinnamon & Cardamom

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said about Talbina:

“Talbina gives rest to the heart of the patient and relieves some of his sorrow and grief.”

— Sahih al-Bukhari

A Prophetic Food for the Heart

Talbina holds a beautiful and deeply comforting place in the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

ʿA’ishah رضي الله عنها would prepare and recommend Talbina during times of illness, sadness, and grief because she had heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ describe its comforting effect on the heart.

When a member of her family passed away, women gathered to offer their condolences. ʿA’ishah رضي الله عنها had Talbina prepared and encouraged them to eat from it, remembering the words of the Prophet ﷺ.

There is something beautiful in that tradition: when people were grieving, they were given something warm, simple, and nourishing.

Talbina was food for a moment when the heart needed comfort.

Best For

  • Times of sadness, grief, or emotional heaviness
  • A warm, comforting breakfast or evening bowl
  • Simple nourishment during illness or recovery
  • Anyone who wants Talbina already lightly sweetened and spiced
  • Busy mornings when you want something quick and nourishing
  • Suhoor or a warm start to the day
  • Bringing foods from the Sunnah into your home

What Is the Comfort Blend?

Our Comfort Blend begins with the same freshly stone-ground barley as our Original Talbina, then adds pure date powder with a touch of cinnamon and cardamom for natural sweetness and warmth.

There is no refined sugar and no artificial sweetener. The gentle sweetness comes naturally from dates.

The result is a creamy, softly sweet, beautifully spiced Talbina that needs very little added to it — simply cook with milk or water and enjoy warm.

We created the Comfort Blend for the moments when you want the nourishment and tradition of Talbina with a little extra warmth already built into the bowl.

Why Dates?

Dates hold their own treasured place in Islamic tradition and have nourished Muslim families for generations.

Instead of using refined sugar, we use finely ground date powder to bring a gentle natural sweetness to the barley while keeping the blend simple and rooted in familiar ingredients.

The dates complement the mild flavor of barley, while cinnamon and cardamom add a warm aromatic finish without overpowering the Talbina itself.

Nothing overly sweet. Nothing artificial. Just a comforting balance of barley, dates, and warm spice.

Why Sunnah Garden Talbina Is Different

Something this simple deserves to be exceptionally fresh.

Instead of buying large quantities of barley flour that may sit in storage for long periods, Sunnah Garden works with a partner farm that freshly mills our barley in small batches.

Our barley is stone-ground specifically for us, helping shorten the time between milling, blending, packaging, and reaching your kitchen.

After milling, we combine the barley with date powder, cinnamon, and cardamom to create our Comfort Blend in small batches.

From the farm to your pouch, our goal is simple: fresh ingredients, familiar flavors, and a nourishing food rooted in the tradition of Talbina.

  • Fresh or dried fruit
  • Seeds or nut butter

The dates provide a gentle natural sweetness while cinnamon and cardamom give the bowl its warm, comforting flavor.

Ingredients

Stone-Ground Barley, Date Powder, Cinnamon & Cardamom

Naturally sweetened with dates. No refined sugar. No artificial sweeteners. No artificial flavors. No artificial colors. No preservatives.

Freshly Milled in Small Batches

Our barley is freshly stone-ground by our partner farm in small batches specifically for Sunnah Garden.

Small-batch milling allows us to replenish our Talbina regularly rather than relying on large quantities of pre-ground barley sitting in storage.

We then blend it with date powder and just enough cinnamon and cardamom to create a warm, balanced flavor without overpowering the barley.

Freshly milled barley. Naturally sweetened dates. A touch of warm spice.

From the Sunnah to Your Table

Some foods from the Sunnah are remembered simply because the Prophet ﷺ ate or recommended them.

Talbina carries an especially tender story.

It was prepared when people were sick.

It was prepared when people were grieving.

And ʿA’ishah رضي الله عنها continued giving it to others because she remembered what the Prophet ﷺ had taught her about its comfort for the heart.

Our Comfort Blend takes that simple barley tradition and pairs it with the natural sweetness of dates and the warmth of cinnamon and cardamom — making it easy to bring Talbina into everyday life.

Our hope is to help bring this beautiful tradition back into Muslim homes — one warm bowl at a time.
